The planned intervention involves the construction of the variant of Provincial Road S.P.n.101 in the section connecting Corso Europa with Via Nerviano-SP109.
From the traffic circle on Viale Italia, the configuration of Corso Europa changes to see two center lanes continuing southbound in the trench and underpass to the highway, two side lanes serving the existing road system north of the highway and allowing traffic on Corso Europa, connection to Via Trieste and access to properties.
South of the highway, the roadway connects to the existing intersection between Via Nerviano and Via De Gasperi through the construction of a new traffic circle with a diameter of 50 meters. The road section planned for the road connection between SP101 and SP109 has characteristics that can be attributed to a category C1 road, a secondary suburban road (3.75m lanes and 1.50m platforms). J+S was asked by the company to study a construction variant that could optimize the timing of site work. For this reason, it was decided to use the so-called "Milan method," which involves the construction of the new piles and cover, and only then the blind hole excavation. In addition, it was planned to use prefabricated elements for the construction of the tunnel cover (precast concrete beams) to ensure faster execution of the cover. Finally, the stormwater storage and release basin was also restudied with precast modular box elements.
