In order to ensure higher water quality and greater resilience of the network against any changes in water demand, the aqueduct backbone connecting the supply system of Concorezzo to that of the municipality of Lesmo, and the section connecting the distribution network of the municipality of Usmate Velate to the distribution network of the municipality of Arcore were designed.

The section of the feeder between the distribution network in Concorezzo (Via Oreno), near the piezometric tower, and the reserve tank in Lesmo (Via XXIV Maggio) is planned to include an initial section of DN400 cast-iron pipeline from the distribution network on Via Oreno (in Concorezzo) to the intersection with Via Buonarroti and Via Bianchi, from which the main section continues with DN350 cast-iron pipeline to the outlet at the Lesmo tank. Optimal service will be guaranteed to the two intermediate delivery points present in Villasanta (at the "Risorgimento" withdrawal and the "Segantini" withdrawal) through DN200 cast-iron pipelines. In total, the section has a development of ml. 6,780, including the crossing, with no-dig systems, of Provincial Road No. 60 and the Italian Railway Network in the "Monza - Arcore" section.

The second section involves detaching a new backbone with DN200 cast-iron pipeline from the facilities in Via della Brina in Usmate Velate to the Via Gilera - Via Fumagalli intersection in the municipality of Arcore for the delivery of water to the existing networks, for a development of about 1,700 meters without intermediate withdrawals and including a crossing, with no-dig systems, of the Italian Railway Network in the "Seregno - Carnate" section.

To support the design, two mathematical models were built using Infoworks WS modeling software to simulate the hydraulic operation of pressurized distribution networks. The analyses performed were used to verify the resilience of the network for possible future increases in water demand and to verify that the pressure levels required at the delivery points were compatible with the flow rates required at the spillways and the Lesmo reservoir.
